Catastrophic Bleeding & Tourniquets
This course is ideal for anyone working in a high risk environment where there could be a possibility of catastrophic bleeding and the need to use tourniquets e.g. agriculture.
We can offer this course as a bolt on to our First Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid at Work courses as well as a stand alone course. It is advised that those attending hold a first aid certificate.

Anyone who may find themselves in a high risk environment where they may need to deal with catastrophic bleeding e.g. agriculture.

- How to manage an incident
- Use of a variety of bandages for catastrophic bleeding
- Use of a tourniquet
How is it assessed?
There’s no formal assessment - our highly experienced St John trainers will make sure you know what you’re doing by giving you plenty of advice and the chance to practice on our manikins until you’re confident.
How long is the course?
One hour - bolt on to the First Aid at Work (FAW) or Emergency FAW
Two hour - stand alone course with scenarios
